I was speaking with the gentleman referred to in my previous post. I have, for some years, pondered why some get a free pass, and others don't. Why do I hold Messrs Jobs & Cook liable for my pain, yet Messrs McMurtry et. al. go unscathed, virtually worshipped.

For some reason, some people hesitate to get to close to me.

The ability to craft a brand is an art, no different, at least not significantly different than crafting a song, a sentence, a painting. Nonetheless, we vilify the moneyed and praise our destitution. Why? One reason would be because, since before recorded history, we have tokenised success by money. Some day money will be gone. When that happens, the Slims & Bezos of the world will find another way to reinforce their self esteem.
