I am a California (210750) and New York (2785913) attorney. I obtained my CDL in California in the 1990s, and in Japan in the 2000s. I attended CDL school in Japan where I drove a dump truck, and in Ohio where I drove a tractor trailer on the range at Swift Academy.
I am looking for a Sikh OTR driver or company that will let me drive, and give me pointers. I was born in Burma and lived in Asia 20 years. My daughter and her mom live in Tokyo. I lived at the Athens, Greece guruwara for several weeks.
The difficulty, I think, is that most trucking insurance companies bump their insureds into a higher price bracket if the insured has a driver with less than 1.5 years of experience. If you are an OTR driver & you & your company are willing to let me drive OTR, I would be glad to drive for you. Also, if you or your company's drivers should have any difficulty with the police, I would be glad to let you use my name, and help in my legal capacity.
Why do I want to drive OTR?
I initially considered driving OTR in the early 1980s, when I was an undergraduate in the Northern Tier of New York. I was raised in Rochester, New York. I have been traveling and working remotely as an attorney for five years.
I am fluent in Japanese. My Japanese grammar is better than my American, although my English vocabulary is larger. I lived and practiced commercial transactions in Japan for 17 years. Initially, I did not want to get a truck driving job because I didn't want to be told where and when to go places. I motorcycled around South Africa, cycled around Japan & Hawai’i, where my mum was born. My grandma was Japanese Hawaiian. I toured around North America in my sedan.
Last year, I cycled from London, to Edinburgh, the Hebrides, Belfast, Dublin & Wales. As I was cycling around the UK, I realised I was tired of deciding where to go. If I can find a transport company that will give me a home (i.e. a tractor with a bunk), and will pay me for driving around, we can both make money, and you can save on legal expenses.
